Benefits of Resveratrol

Studies about the benefits of resveratrol are on-going, but what has been shown is remarkable.

- Reducing neurodegenerative diseases.
Researchers at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University in November 2008 did a study that showed resveratrol significantly reduced plaque formation in animal brains - this means that it helped reduce the likelihood of Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases. It may help reduce plaque associated with aging changes in the brain for humans by removing copper.

- Life extension and anti-aging.
Resvratrol helps replacing dead cells rapidly and keep the healthy cells healthy, boosting and supporting the immune system to fight off illnesses and colds. Studies done on fish have show that the fish had an increased life span of 56%.

- Cancer prevention.
There have been postive effects on cells of breast, skin, gastric, colon, esophageal, prostate, and pancreatic cancer, and leukemia.

- Radiation protection.
A study done by the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in September 2008 found that resveratrol may offer protection against radiation exposure.

- Weight loss.
Weight loss has been shown in those who have used resveratral, with mice who were given resveratrol had increased their weight loss, and staying thinner than their non-resv counterparts.

- Cardiovascular benefits.
One of the first human resveratrol studies showed that resverotrol improved heart function in patients with type II diabetes following a heart attack. It has been known to reduce the stickiness of immune cells to the artery walls, promote and assist in the healthy structure and function of the cardiovascular system. It helps protect against the damage from high blood sugar ain the circulatory system.
